Professor Edward Maloka is a distinguished diplomat, academic, and public servant with extensive experience in foreign policy. He served as CEO of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) from 2016 to 2024, revitalizing the organisation and integrating it into African Union processes.
During an illustrious career spanning over 30 years, he served in various senior positions in the South African government, including as Special Advisor to the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation; South Africa’s Special Representative to the Great Lakes Region; and Special Advisor to the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa.
Holding a Ph.D. in History from the University of Cape Town and a Master’s from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. Maloka is also a published author and poet recognised as a champion of African prosperity.
Currently, he is a Professor of Practice at the University of Johannesburg and has held visiting positions at institutions such as WITS and Delaware State University. His academic accolades include fellowships at Princeton, Brown, and SOAS, University of London.
